5.4 Handling

5.4.1. Sw itchgear
The switchgear sections are usually fixed to wooden
pallets. Handling should be carried out by means of
bridge or mobile cranes. Otherwise, use rollers or
fork-lift trucks.
The weights and dimensions of each section are listed
in the shipping documents and in the plant drawings.
5.4.1.1. Sw itchgear handling w ith overhead crane
or mobile crane and unpacking
Handling the switchgear in the wood packing
The switchgear must be lifted by means of a crane
using circular slings (1). The slings must be inserted
according to the lifting symbols marked on the crate.
The weight and lifting opening angle must be taken
into account when choosing the circular slings.
Unpacking
Remove the nails and crate lid and sides.
Open the compartment door and loosen the bolts
fixing the switchgear to the pallet.
Lift the cubicles by means of the crane following
the instructions below.
Remove the pallet.
Position the unloading shims.
Place the switchgear on the loading shims by
using the crane.

Only use a suitably balanced lifting system

After unpacking, lift the cubicle groups by means
of a crane. Use the eyebolts and the ropes fitted
with safety spring catches.
After installation, remove the eyebolts used for
lifting.
