5. Dispatch and storage

5.1 Packing and transport

W ARNING
Follow the symbols and instructions show n on the
packaging carefully.
For
shipping
reasons,
dispatched in 1000 mm-long sections.
In case of switchgear lengths exceeding 1000 mm,
several sections must be provided and the cubicles
must be coupled in the installation room. No special
devices are required, as assembly is carried out by
aligning all the relevant sections. In order to prevent
any
damage
during
auxiliary equipment (protection and control relays and
measurement
instruments)
packed separately.
This equipment must be carefully checked on receipt,
packed
again
and
installation. Please refer to the relevant apparatus
documentation for correct installation.
Each switchgear section (or unit group) is pac ked
according to the customer's shipping and storage
requirements. Each group is protected by a plastic
wrap so as to avoid any water infiltration while loading
and unloading and to protect each component from
dust while stored.
The vehicle for transport ing a unit group must be fitted
with an anti-slip, friction-resistant loading platform no
higher than 1.5 m and the total vehicle height must not
exceed four metres.
The compartment groups must stand back to back and
their rear parts must be separated by insulating,
compression-resistant materials so as to avoid any
direct contact between the surfaces of the different
units. Moreover, each group must be separated by
means of frames so as to avoid any movement during
transport.
The groups must be fixed t o the vehicle by means of
ropes so as to avoid any violent impact or tilting over
in the case of sharp turns or sudden stops. Moreover,
the vehicle must be fitted with a canvas covering the
whole load. The load capacity of the lifting equipment
must guarantee proper weight distribution.
If the apparatus is unloaded in the warehouse or in
the installation room, the area must be at least 3 x 2
m wide with another area at the same level. See par.
for
handling.
Small
compensated with temporary structures made using
wooden boards.
Unloading must be carried out with the utmost care
using suitable lifting equipment for the weight of each
unit group, especially in the presence of energised
overhead lines.

Before performing any operation, make sure that
the operating device springs are discharged and
usually
that the apparatus is in the open position.
On
receipt,
