6-1-3. FWD Back Tension Adjustment

Be sure to adjust the FWD back tension after replacing the S reel table, S reel motor
or the tension regulator arm assembly.
Preparations
1. Remove the outside lid assembly and the outside panel assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-6.)
2. Turn on the power.
3. Press the EJECT button, and confirm that the unit is in the unthreading end
state.
4. Set the FORMAT menu in the SYSTEM Setup menu as follows.
(Refer to the Operation Manual.)
LINE: 1080P (1080PsF/P)
FRAME: 23.98 (23.976 Hz)
SIGNAL: 444H (4:4:4 HQ)
5. Power off and then power on again.
6. Set TEST MODE to "2: Tension Adj" on the MECH menu in the Diagnosis
menu. (Refer to Section 3-2-9.)

When the TEST MODE is set to "2: Tension Adj", press the [FUNC] button
and the [F|FWD] button together to change the SHTL speed to +0.5 times
speed mode and +1 times speed mode.
When the [FUNC] button and the [REW] button are pressed together once, the
SHTL speed becomes _0.5 times speed mode. When the buttons are pressed
together twice, the SHTL speed becomes _1 times speed mode.

It is recommended that this adjustment be made with the cassette compartment
assembly mounted in the unit.
When the cassette compartment assembly is not installed, shield the photo-interrupt-
er (cassette controller lock switch) mounted on the SE-741 board with black paper or
the like to make the same condition as when the cassette compartment assembly is
locked. Besides, put a weight so that the FWD back tension measurement cassette is
not raised.
