4. Install belt and adjust. (Section L)
5. Tighten motor mounts.
6. Install pad driver. At this point make sure the
belt does not contact the pad driver. If it
does, adjust the motor sheave slightly upward
until the belt clears.
7. Turn machine upright and connect wire leads.
8. Install new circuit breaker.
a. The Howell motor requires a toggle type
circuit breaker (Fig. 20), new mounting
screws and a new hood to accommodate
the breaker.
9. Install the hood.
Q. Capacitors - C5037
1. Remove capacitor cover(s).
2. Discharge capacitor.
a. BE SURE TO DISCHARGE
CAPACITORS BEFORE TESTING /
REPLACING. Place a well insulated
screwdriver across both terminals at once
to discharge.
3. Disconnect wiring and remove capacitor.
R. Capacitor testing
1. Discharge capacitor. (Section Q, Item 2)
2. Set meter to OHM setting - RX100.
3. Attach meter leads as shown.
4. Check reading below.
Good - Meter deflects toward zero then gradually
rises back to the left.
NOTE: The amount of deflection varies in
relation to the size of the capacitor.
Bad - 0 Ohms - meter deflects to 0 and stays.
Bad - Inf. - No meter movement.
S. Motor brushes - C5039, C5041
Locate under motor end bell.
Disconnect unit from power supply.
1. Remove grille mounting bolt and remove
grille. (Fig. 21)
2. Remove end bell (2 bolts). (Fig. 21)
3. Lift end bell off motor.
