Driving your vehicle
僅 If the parking brake warning light is
still on even though the EPB has been
released, have the system checked by
a professional workshop. Kia recom -
mends to visit an authorised Kia
dealer/service partner.
EPB warning message
Operating condition(s)
僅 Attempting to drive off whilst engag -
ing the accelerator pedal with the EPB
applied
僅 Driver's seat belt is not fastened and
the vehicle bonnet, driver's door or
tailgate is opened
僅 There is a problem with the vehicle
僅 Conversion from AUTO HOLD to EPB
is not working properly
僅 EPB is applied whilst AUTO HOLD is
activated due to Electronic Stability
Control (ESC) signal
EPB malfunction indicator

If the EPB malfunction indicator remains
on, appears whilst driving, or does not
appear when the vehicle is in the ON
position, this indicates the EPB may mal -
function.
Have your vehicle checked by a profes -
sional workshop as soon as possible. Kia
recommends to visit an authorised Kia
dealer/service partner.
NOTICE
僅 The EPB warning light may appear if
the EPB switch operates abnormally.
Shut the engine off and turn it on
again after a few minutes. The warn -
ing light will go off and the EPB switch
will operate normally. However, if the
EPB warning light is still on, have the
system checked by a professional
workshop. Kia recommends to visit an
authorised Kia dealer/ service partner.
僅 If the parking brake warning light
does not appear or blinks even
though the EPB switch was pulled up,
the EPB is not applied.
僅 If the parking brake warning light
blinks when the EPB warning light is
on, press the EPB switch, then pull it
up. Once more press it back to its
original position and pull it back up. If
the EPB warning does not go off, have
the system checked by a professional
workshop. Kia recommends to visit an
authorised Kia dealer/service partner.
Emergency braking with the EPB
switch
Pull and hold the EPB switch up to
engage the emergency brake.
WARNING
Do not operate the Electronic Parking
Brake (EPB) whilst the vehicle is moving
except in an emergency situation. Apply -
ing the EPB whilst the vehicle is moving
at normal speeds can cause a sudden
loss of control of the vehicle. If you must
use the EPB to stop the vehicle, use
great caution in applying the brake.
