Machine Quilting Tip: Quilting speed while in stitch-regulation mode
It is unlikely that you will move the Quilt Maker Pro 16 across the quilt too fast. However,
if you do, it will result in an overspeed condi琀椀 on if the machine can't s琀椀 tch fast enough to
maintain s琀椀 tch regula琀椀 on. In this case the machine will run full speed, but the s琀椀 tches will
begin to elongate and/or become inconsistent un琀椀 l you slow down to where the machine
can keep up.
There are two s琀椀 tch regula琀椀 on modes: Cruise and Precision.
To use Cruise s琀椀 tch regula琀椀 on: (Cruise is the speed the machine will run as soon as the start bu琀琀 on is
pressed; in other words the slowest the machine will go.)
• Touch the Regulated bu琀琀 on and then touch the Cruise bu琀琀 on.
Press the plus (+) or

Press the plus (+) or

the cruise s琀椀 tches-
per-minute se琀 ng.
A昀琀 er you press the Start/Stop bu琀琀 on on the handlebars, the machine immediately begins quil琀椀 ng
according to the s琀椀 tches-per-minute and s琀椀 tches-per-inch se琀 ngs. Similarly, as you bring your quil琀椀 ng to
a stop, the needle will con琀椀 nue s琀椀 tching at the cruise speed (s琀椀 tches per minute) un琀椀 l you press the stop
bu琀琀 on on the handlebars. The minimum speed of the needle is dependent upon the s琀椀 tches-per-minute
se琀 ng you choose. Janome recommends beginning with a se琀 ng of 75. Begin moving the machine to
avoid s琀椀 tching in place for too long.
The constant minimum s琀椀 tching speed featured in the Cruise s琀椀 tch regula琀椀 on is useful for
precise placement of s琀椀 tching, such as when backtracking along the tops of feathers or
when crea琀椀 ng sharp points, such as the point of a star or the bo琀琀 om of a heart.
