the current SPM se琀 ng
1. Select Manual s琀椀 tching mode by touching the Manual Mode bu琀琀 on.
2. Press the plus (+) bu琀琀 on to increase or the minus (–) bu琀琀 on to decrease the current s琀椀 tches-per-
minute se琀 ng (top number).
3. Touch one of the preset bu琀琀 ons to save the current se琀 ng (top number) as a preset.
Set the machine at a medium speed (such as 900) and begin moving it un琀椀 l you become
accustomed to the resistance. By moving the machine faster, the s琀椀 tches will begin to
elongate. Either increase the s琀椀 tching speed or move the machine more slowly to get the
s琀椀 tches to your desired length. When you move the machine more slowly, the s琀椀 tches get
shorter. If you move it too slow, s琀椀 tches can build up on top of each other, break the thread,
or make it extremely diffi cult to unpick. Decrease the s琀椀 tching speed, while maintaining a
constant mo琀椀 on with the machine, to bring the s琀椀 tches to the desired length.
S琀椀 tch Regula琀椀 on
S琀椀 tch regula琀椀 on maintains a consistent s琀椀 tch length (s琀椀 tches per inch) regardless of how quickly or slowly
you move the machine. This is of course unless you move faster than the machine can sew, at which 琀椀 me
the s琀椀 tches will begin to elongate.
Machine Quilting Tip: Getting started with stitch regulation
Set the machine to your desired s琀椀 tch length. Begin moving the machine to become
accustomed to the resistance. The machine motor will slow down or speed up to maintain
a consistent s琀椀 tch length according to how quickly or slowly you move the machine.
Moving the machine too fast or in radical or jerky movements will defeat the s琀椀 tch
regulator func琀椀 on.
