To
prepare the
oxygen
self-rescuer
for
use, mount the shoulder strap
as
shown:
Looping the shoulder strap into the
back plate of
the
housing
o
Loop the short end of the
shoulder
strap into the slot
in
the housing's
backplate(1).
Looping the shoulder strap into the
adiusting buckle
O
Thread the ends
of
the
shoulder
straps into the adjusting buckles
and pull the ends
of
the
shoulder
straps
as
far as possible
(2).
O
Close the
adjusiing buckles(3).
Using
the Oxygen Self-Rescuer
-
Open the
oxygen
self-rescuer only in case of emergency.
lf opened prematurely, the humidity
of
the ambient air
could
penetrate
the open
oxygen
self-rescuer and impair
its
function.
-
lnspect the
oxygen
self-rescuer
daìly.
-
Use
the
oxygen
self-rescuer only once.
-
To avoid risk
of
fire,
make
sure
that
no
flammable materials (petrol,
grease, solvents etc.)
can
get
into
the
oxygen
self-rescuer before
or
dur-
ing operation.
There
is
also danger of ignition
if
the oxygen-releasing chemicals come
¡nto
contact w¡th combustible substances such as coal when the
oxy-
gen self-rescuer
is
damaged.
Opened uniis are classified as used and it is not allowed
to
store them.
They
have
to
be disposed of (see "Disposal" on page
12).

Donning Procedure
lf incorrectly donned in cases of emergency, the oxygen self-rescuer could
start
up
with
a delay.
When
donning
the
unit, follow the described
order
of stèps.

Use
the yellow grip
to
pull the unit
forwards.

Move
the handle downwards until
the lid comes
off
of
the
oxygen
self-
rescuer.

Remove
lid.
Donning the unit

Take
hold
of
the
neck
strap with one
hand,
then
use
your other hand to
take hold
of
the carrying frame
before pulling the
oxygen self-res-
cuer upwards and out
of
the
holder
O
Turn
the
oxygen
self-rescuer
so
that
lhe
carrying frame faces the chest.
Donning the unit
O
Adjust the shoulder strap around
your neck.
O
Pull both shoulder straps
as
far
as
they will go.

Pull the red rubber neck band over
your head and let it hang from the
back of your neck.

Adjust the neck strap to pull the
oxy-
gen self-rescuer into the
correct
position.

Take hold of the yellow opener.

Push the yellow opener
away
from
your body until lid separates from
the
oxygen
self-rescuer.
