2.2 Preventative Maintenance Procedure

2.3.1 Perform the instrument check out

The system check described below can be used in order to verify the proper function of the SL 800 in
case of preventative maintenance activities.
Step Check Procedure
1 Check all housings and covers
2 Check all visible screws
3 Check all cable connections
4 Check all cable isolations
5 Check all joints and removable parts
6 Check the front objective
7 Check the mirror
8 Check the microscope
9 Check the eyepieces
10 Check the fixation of any additional
accessory, e.g. the tonometer.
11 Check the full height adjustment of
the instrument base.
12 Check the full range of motion of
the x-y instrument base.
13 Check the function of all brake
knobs.
14 Check the illumination unit.
15 Check the external fixation light.
16 Check the chin rest adjustment
motion.

Expected Check Result
All covers are installed properly, clean and free of
damage.
All visible screws are fastened.
All cable connections are connected.
All cable isolations are free of damage.
All joints are properly fixed.
The front objective is clean and free of any scratches
or damage
The mirror is clean and free of any scratches or
damage
The manual microscope changer can be turned
easily by 360° without any friction
The motorized microscope changer can be turned
easily to all magnification steps without any friction,
by using the plus and minus buttons at the operator
panel.
The eyepieces are clean and free of any scratches or
damage.
The accessories are properly fixed and functional.
The instrument height adjustment can be properly
moved, by the joystick, to both end positions (up
and down) without any friction or obstacles.
The instrument base can be properly moved, by the
joystick, to all lateral end positions without any
friction or obstacles.
All brake knobs can be used without and friction.
All filters and slit positions can be set without any
friction or obstacles. The slit image edges should be
parallel and can be fully closed. The LED illumination
can be set via the illumination setting knob within
the full range.
The external fixation light is fully functioning.
The chin rest adjustment is fully functional, to both
end positions (up and down) without any friction or
obstacles.
