Recording a CD:
Specifying Track Order
(program edit)
You can match the total recording time to
the tape length while making a program.

1 Follow the procedure in "Playing Tracks
in the Desired Order (program play)" to
program the tracks you want to record
for side A. Make sure the total playing
time for side A does not exceed the
length of one side of the tape.
2 Press U1.
"P" appears in the display and the total
playing time returns to "0.00."
3 Program the tracks you want to record
for side B the same way you
programmed side A.
4 Press
2 OPEN/CLOSE and insert a
blank tape into the tape deck with the
side you want to record facing upward.
Make sure the tabs on the cassette have
not been removed.
5 select how to record the tape.
To record
Switch DIRECTION
mode to
One side
Both sides*
"SD or Co
* Recording always stops at the end of the
reverse side. Be sure to start from the
front side.
6 set DOLBY NR to B or C when you
want to reduce tape hiss in low-level,
high- frequency signals.

7 Press CD SYNCHRO.
The @ REC and §§ PAUSE indicators
light and the deck stands by for
recording.
The direction indicators (<J or >)
light to indicate which sides of the
cassette you can use to record. (For a full
explanation of the -> and <J
indicators, see "What the [> and <J
indicators indicate" in "Recording a CD
automatically.")
If you want to record from the reverse
side, press <] so the <J indicator lights
steadily.
8 Press If PAUSE to release recording
pause.
Recording starts. After about ten
seconds, the CD starts to play.
To stop recording
Press ™ on the tape deck.
To cancel program edit
Press CONTINUE.
To check your program
Press CHECK on the remote repeatedly.
The first track in the program will be
displayed.
Each time you press CHECK, the next track
in the program will be displayed. After the
last track, "CHECK END" will be indicated
and the display will soon return to the
initial status.

Recording From the
Radio
You can record from the tuner onto a tape.
Use TYPE I (normal) or TYPE II (CrO2z)
tapes for recording.

1 Press TUNER/BAND repeatedly until
the desired radio band appears.
2 Tune in the radio station you want to
record. See "Listening to the Radio" for
details.
3 press & OPEN/CLOSE and insert a
blank tape into the tape deck with the
side you want to record facing upward.
Make sure the tabs on the cassette have
not been removed.
4 Select how to record the tape.
To record

5 Set DOLBY NR to B or C when you

high- frequency signals.
6 Press @ REC.

light and the deck stands by for
recording.

light to indicate which sides of the
cassette you can use to record. (For a full

indicators indicate" in "Recording a CD
automatically.")
If you want to record from the reverse
side, press <I so the <I indicator lights
steadily.
7 Press If PAUSE (or < or [>) to release
recording pause. Recording starts.
To stop recording
Press @.
Adjusting the volume will not effect the
recording level
But it will change the sound levels you hear
through the speakers or headphones.
