audio quality of the radio.
Do not disassemble the radio. This could
damage radio seals and result in leak
paths into the radio. Any radio
maintenance should be performed only by
a qualified radio technician.

Cleaning Your Radio

Caution:
Do not use solvents to clean your radio as
most chemicals may permanently damage the
radio housing and textures.
Do not submerge the radio in the detergent
solution.
To clean the external surfaces of your radio, follow
the procedure described next.
1 Combine one teaspoon of mild dishwashing
detergent to one gallon of water (0.5% solution).
2 Apply the solution sparingly with a stiff, non-
metallic, shortbristled brush, making sure excess
detergent does not get entrapped near the
connectors, controls or crevices. Dry the radio
thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.
3 Clean battery contacts with a lint-free cloth to
remove dirt or grease.

Preparation for Washing the Radio and Parts

You can detach the battery and Universal Connector
Cover of the radio and have them and the radio
brushed and washed with detergent and water.
Prepare the following material, apparatus or
equipment before you begin washing the radio and
parts.
A bucket of tap water (water height must be at
least 2 inches higher than radio height).
A bucket of 0.5% liquid detergent solution (1
teaspoon of recommended liquid detergent to 1
gallon of water or 1 part recommended liquid
detergent to 200 parts water; water height must be
at least 2 inches higher than radio height).
A small brush
A toothbrush
Source of running water
Drying towel
