After turning on the the transmitting equipment, power up the MDF1. If you have

another piece of MIDI equipment connected to the MIDI THRU terminal, also turn
on the power of that unit. (In other words, power up all equipment in the order
of signal transmission.)
When the MDF1 is turned on, the following message will appear on the LED display:

no
disk
This message indicates that no disk has yet been inserted.
