TROUBLESHOOTING
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think that there is something wrong with this component, check the points
below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. Investigate the other components and electrical appliances being used.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your dealer
to carry out repair work.
Power does not come on even
when POWER switch is pressed.
© Connect cord securely.
e Unplug the power cord of the unit from the AC
wall outlet, then plug it in again.
¢ Power cord is disconnected.
® Instances are rare, but the problem may be due
to the operation of the protector circuit.
¢ Static electricity affected the unit when the air
was dry, such as in winter.
e Unplug the power cord of the unit from the AC
wall outlet, then plug it in again.
¢ If static electricity is pronounced, it is
recommended that you operate the unit using
the remote control unit.
Control was not possible
regardless of what operation
button was pressed.
© Connections are incorrect.
® Consult pages
7 — 18 and perform connections
correctly.
e Press the MUTING button to cancel the
MUTING effect.
© Press the button again to the OFF position.
¢ Press the SPEAKERS button to turn ON.
¢ Raise volume.
¢ Connect wires to terminals securely.
No sound is produced, even
when the INPUT SELECTOR
button is selected.
¢ The MUTING button is pressed.
e@ TAPE 2 MONITOR button is in the ON position.
¢ SPEAKERS buttons are turned OFF.

¢ VOLUME is turned down.
¢ Speaker connecting wires are disconnected
from speaker terminals.
© One or both of the input cords are disconnected.
¢ Connector bars are disconnected.
¢ SURROUND
MODE button is OFF position.
* Connect input cords securely.
© Connect bars securely.
e Press the SURROUND
MODE button to correct
position.
¢ When using DOLBY 3CH LOGIC, there is no
sound from the rear channel.
e Adjust REAR LEVEL control.
© Press the REAR BALANCE R or L on the remote
control unit to correct the balance.
e Use the simulated surround mode.
Rear sound is not produced.
® DOLBY 3CH LOGIC is ON during playback.
e REAR LEVEL control is minimum.
@ REAR BALANCE is incorrect.
REAR L or R sound is not
produced.
© The sound is monaural.
* Consult pages
7 ~ 18 and perform connectons
correctly.
© Set correctly.
No picture is produced, even
when the INPUT SELECTOR
button is selected.
© Connections are incorrect.
© The VIDEO SIGNAL SELECTOR is not set
properly.
© The VCR and the selected INPUT SELECTOR
button are not correct.
e Press the correct button.
¢ Station has not been tuned in to correct
frequency.
¢ Antenna has not been connected or has
become disconnected.
FM reception
¢ Accessory T-type antenna remains bundled
up or it is not pointing in right direction.
¢ Weak broadcasting station signals.
High noise level.
* Tune the station in correctly.
© Connect the antenna securely.
¢ Stretch both ends of antenna taut and locat:
direction yielding optimum reception.
© Replace accessory T-type antenna with outdoor
FM antenna.
AM reception
¢ AM loop antenna is not pointing in right
direction.
© Weak broadcasting station signals.
© Change the AM loop antenna's direction ani
find a position where reception is improved.
e Erect outdoor AM antenna or connect ground
wire.
¢ Stop using appliances generating noise or
remove them from vicinity of stereo equipmint.
© Separate the loop antenna from the unit by
some distance.
© (FM) If the T-type antenna is being used,
change to an outdoor antenna.
© Noise being picked up from this unit and other
equipment (especially electrical appliances using
motor or fluorescent lights).
* Input signals are not strong enough.
No auto stop.
