TROUBLESHOOTING
incorrect operation is often mistaken for equipment malfunction. if you think that there is something wrong with this component, check the points
below. Sometimes the trouble may lie in another component. investigate the other camponents and electrical appliances being used.
if the trouble cannot be rectified even after exercising the checks listed below, ask your nearest PIONEER authorized service center or your dealer

Power does not come on even
when POWER
switch is 'pressed.
{
* Power cord is disconnected.
* Instances are rare, but the problem may be
due to the operation of the protector circuit.
* Connect cord securely.
* Unpiug the power cord of the unit from the AC
wail outlet, then plug it in age
Control was not possible
regardless of what operation
switch was pressed.
* Static electricity affected the unit when the air
was dry, such as in winter.
« Unplug the power cord of the unit from the AC
wail outlet, then plug it in again.
* If static electricity is pronounced, it is
recommended that you operate the unit using
the remote control unit.
[No sound is produced, even
when the INPUT SELECTOR
switch is selected.
* Connections are incorrect
* The MUTING switch is pressed.
* VOLUME is turned down.
* Speaker connecting wires are disconnected from
speaker terminals.
* One or both of the input cords are disconnected.
* TAPE 2 MONITOR switch is in the ON position.
* Connector bars are disconnected.
* Consult page 8 --
14 and perform connections
correctly.
* Press the MUTING switch to cancel the MUTING
effect.
* Raise volume.
* Connect wires to terminals securely.
* Connect input cords securely,
* Press the switch again to the OFF position.
* Connect bars securely.
| * Switch the SPEAKERS switch ON,
No picture is produced, even
when the INPUT SELECTOR
switch is selected.

AM reception
* AM ioop antenna is not pointing in right direction
° Weak broadcasting station signals.
* Naise being picked us from this unit and other
equipment (especially electrical appliances using
motor or fluorescent fights)
Tune the station in correctly,
Connect the antenna securely.
* Stretch both ends of antenna taut and locate
direction yielding optimum reception.
* Replace accessory T-type antenna with outdoor
|
FM antenna.

* Change the direction of AM loop antenna and
|
find a pasition where reception is improved.
| * Erect outdoor AM antenna or connect ground wire.
* Stop using appliances generating noise or
remove them from vicinity of stereo equipment.
Separate the loop antenna from the unit by
some distance.
* Input signals are not strong enough
{FM) If the T-type antenna is being used, change
fo an outdoor antenna
* TV antenna is not connected to VCR, or
connections
are faulty.
* You are attempting to watch a TV source using
a VCR with copy system connections.
in general, when copy system connections are
made, the VCR's TV tuner function ceases to
operate.
For details, consuit the operating
instructions for your VCR.
