7. Install the transmission oil dipstick.
8. Start the engine and let it idle while
checking for oil leakage.
9. Stop the engine and check the oil level
one last time.

To change the transmission oil and oil filter
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface.
2. Remove the center bottom panel. (See
page 9-19.)
3. Follow steps 1–3 of the "To change the
transmission oil" section for the oil drain-
ing procedure.
4. Remove the oil filter cartridge with an oil
filter wrench. Make sure the O-ring is re-
moved together with the oil filter car-
tridge. If the O-ring remains attached to
the transmission case, oil leakage may
occur.
TIP
An oil filter wrench is available from a Yamaha
dealer.
