Slime Power Sport 40001 - 12-Volt Tire Inflator Manual

Introduction

The Power Sport Tire Inflator is perfect for maintaining proper tire pressure on motorcycles, ATVs, trailers, bicycles and other inflatables. The compact size and rigid case allow for easy storage, making it easy and convenient to maintain proper tire pressure. When tire pressure is properly maintained the tread life of the tire is maximized, fuel economy is increased and vehicle handling is improved.

warning ATTENTION! READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
Failure to follow warning instructions can result in fire, injury to persons or property damage.

TIRE INFLATOR SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS

  1. For use with 12-volt DC power outlet rated 15 amps or higher. Do not use with older 8 amp cigarette lighter receptacles.
  2. You may need to be in "accessory" or "on" position. Please make sure emergency brake is set and car is in park. Always ensure air hose chuck touches the core of the valve stem for proper inflation.
  3. Inflator is not designed for use on high pressure tires such as truck tires. This inflator is not designed to operate for the length of time it would take to inflate these large tires.

  4. DO NOT use inflator continuously for more than 10 minutes. Inflator is designed for occasional use ONLY. Extended operation will overheat the unit causing damage. Sluggish operation or exposed metal fittings too hot to the touch indicate the unit has been operating too long. If either occurs, turn the unit OFF and allow to cool for 25 minutes or more prior to resuming operation.
  5. Do not leave inflator unattended while the unit is running.
ALWAYS use a pressure gauge to check actual tire pressure.
    DO NOT OVERINFLATE!
  1. Select appropriate power connection adaptor with fuse (A, B or C below) and attach adaptor to 8' main harness power cord.
    1. Attaches directly to battery (motorcycle)
    2. Clips to battery (ATV/mower)
    3. Plugs into DC power outlet (auto)
  2. Attach (A, B or C) adaptor to power source and clip air hose to tire valve.
  3. Flip switch ON and inflate tire to recommended PSI.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Inflator fails to operate when plugged in

Inflator fails to operate when plugged in

  1. The fuse, located in the plug adaptor (C), may have blown. Unscrew the tip of the plug adaptor, remove fuse, and inspect. (If necessary, replace fuse with one of the same amperage.)
  2. The fuse, located in the power connection adaptors (A, B), may have blown. Unclasp the power connection adaptor, remove fuse, and inspect. (If necessary, replace fuse with one of the same amperage.)

Inflator does not start or blows fuses

  1. Push the power plug firmly into the receptacle and twist it back and forth.
  2. Check receptacle and plug terminals for dirt, particularly tobacco.
(Use a nonconductive probe, not fingers or metal to dislodge and remove debris.)
  3. Check vehicle power outlet fuse - should be 15 amps minimum.

Inflator runs but does not inflate

  1. Be sure the connector is on the valve stem as far as possible before closing locking lever.
  2. Check tire for leaks, and check hose for breaks and leaks at fittings.

Inflator runs slowly

  1. Overheated from excessive use, shut it off and allow to cool for 25 minutes.
  2. Voltage too low, check condition of battery.

NOTE: If tire is totally deflated, it is possible that the tire could separate from the rim allowing air to leak out when trying to inflate. In the event this occurs, you will have to jack up the tire prior to inflation.

Keep inflator out of reach of children. Always use a tire gauge to check the actual pressure in tires. Do not overinflate tire.
