SAFETY

NB:
To guarantee op mal performance and safety, Jøtul
recommends that its stoves are fi ed by a qualifi ed installer (see
www.jotul.com for a complete list of dealers).
Any modifi ca ons to the product by the distributor, installer
or consumer may result in the product and safety features not
func oning as intended. The same applies to the installa on of
accessories or op onal extras not supplied by Jøtul. This may also
be the case if parts that are essen al to the func oning and safety
of the fi replace have been disassembled or removed.
In all these cases, the manufacturer is not responsible or liable for
the product and the right to make a complaint becomes null and
void.

FIRE PREVENTION MEASURES

There is a certain element of danger every me you use your
fi replace. The following instruc ons must therefore be followed:
The minimum safety distances when installing and using the
fi replaces are given in the fi gures on the following pages.
Ensure that furniture and other combus ble materials are not
too close to the fi replace. Combus ble materials must not be
placed within 1,000 mm of the fi replace opening.
Allow the fi re to burn out. Never ex nguish the fl ames with
water.
The fi replace becomes hot when lit and may cause burns if
touched.
Only remove ash when the fi replace is cold. Ash can contain
hot embers and should therefore be placed in a non-fl ammable
container.
Ash should be placed outdoors or be emp ed in a place where
it will not pose a poten al fi re hazard.
In case of a fi re in the chimney:
Close all openings and valves.
Keep the door to the fi rebox closed.
Call the fi re department.
Ensure that the fi replace and the chimney are inspected and
given a green light by a professional before you start to use the
fi replace again a er an outbreak of fi re.

FLOOR

Founda ons
You must make sure that the founda on is suitable for the fi replace.
See "Technical Data" for specifi ed weight.
We recommend the removal of any fl ooring that is not a ached to
the founda on ("fl oa ng fl oors") beneath the installa on.
Requirements for protec on of combus ble
fl oors under the fi replace
The product can be installed directly on a combus ble fl oor that
is covered by a sheet of metal or other non-fl ammable material.
Recommended thickness is a minimum of 0.9 mm).
The func on of a fl oor plate is to protect the fl oor and fl ammable
materials against embers. Jøtul recommends that fl oor covering
made of fl ammable material, such as linoleum, carpets, etc., be
removed from under the fl oor plate.
The fl oor plate must comply with na onal laws and regula ons.
Contact your local building authori es regarding restric ons and
installa on requirements.
For Norway:
Minimum 300 mm in front of the door and width at
least the same as the door.

WALLS

Place the product in such a way that it is possible to clean the
stove, the fl ue pipe and the chimney passage.
Ensure that furniture and other combus ble materials are not
too close to the fi replace.
Make sure that furniture and other household items are not so
close as to get dried up by the stove.
Distance to walls made of combus ble material – see the fi gures on the
following pages.
The distances relate to a shielded fl ue pipe/semi-insulated pipe.
The fi replace can be installed with an uninsulated fl ue pipe. In this case,
the fl ue pipe must be CE marked and the pipe's declared distance to
fl ammable materials must be taken into considera on.
Combus ble wall protected by fi rewall
Distance to combus ble wall protected by fi rewall – see the fi gures
on the following pages.
Requirements for fi rewall
The fi rewall must be at least 110 mm thick and made of brick,
concrete or lightweight concrete. Other materials and structures
with sa sfactory documenta on may also be used, e.g. 50 mm Jøtul
Firewall.
Non-fl ammable materials refer to materials that cannot burn, e.g.
bricks, les, concrete, mineral wool, various silicate plates, etc. Bear
in mind that a short distance to non-fl ammable walls can result in
the drying out and discoloura on of paintwork, as well as lead to
the forma on of cracks.

CEILING

There must be a minimum distance of 750 mm between the
fi replace and a ceiling made of a combus ble material above the
fi replace.
