Do not attempt to perform any modification or repair of the JS1-H Steer by Wire.
•
Do not perform any unauthorized software download or modification of the JS1-H Steer by Wire.
•
If the JS1-H Steer by Wire is still under warranty it must be returned to Danfoss for inspection and root
cause analysis.
•
The JS1-H Steer by Wire cannot be repaired in field; the only option for repair is replacement.
•
Always perform safety validation of JS1-H Steer by Wire before commissioning into the target system/
vehicle.
•
The replaced JS1-H Steer by Wire must be decommissioned properly, for example by adequately
marking the part to avoid unintended installation to another vehicle or by modifying the part in a
way that re-installation is never possible.

Safety validation steps after replacing JS1-SBW with a service part or SW update

1. Use the PLUS+1 ® Service Tool for reading out the identification data
•
Check that all four ECUs are displayed (CAN Node IDs 51, 52, 53, 54) in the System Navigator's ECU
List
2. Compare the following software elements to the customer drawing/specification
•
Hardware > Bootloader Version
•
Application > Application Version
•
Application > OS
The Danfoss PLUS+1 ® Service Tool can be used for checking the system status of all CAN-connected
Danfoss PLUS+1 ® Compliant devices and flashing firmware. The following functions should be
highlighted here:
•
Read out error codes
•
Diagnostics and error tracing
•
Parameter configuration
•
Flash firmware
The Danfoss PLUS+1 ® Service Tool can only communicate to devices connected to the same CAN bus.
Since there are often different busses on a machine, it is important to connect with an appropriate CAN
adapter (for example, Danfoss CG150) to the correct bus.
The PLUS+1 ® Service Tool scans the bus for available devices. All units and corresponding details are
listed in the Service Tool's ECU List. Each device is specified by a value pair of <NetID, NodeID>.

Be very careful when flashing another firmware to JS1-H Steer by Wire. Do not interrupt the supply
voltage during firmware downloads.
•
Use only firmware files provided by Danfoss.
