    Spectra 2K library. About the Robotic Picker The robotic picker is the mechanism that moves all media within the Spectra 2K library (Figure 1). It works using only two small motors, and it can be integrated with a bar code scanner.

    4. Move the library to a location where you have enough room to access all sides of the library. Warning: The library is heavy; it weighs approximately 30 pounds.     Remove the Library’s Side Panels 1. Use the #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the six screws attaching the sides of the library to the rear panel; there are three screws on each side, each on a tab connected to the side panel (Figure 2). Note: During this procedure, take care not to scratch the paint on the outside of the library.

  • Page 10 Spectra 2K Library Robotic Picker Replacement Guide 3. Use the small flat head screwdriver to release the latches on the picker cover. i. Insert the head of the screwdriver into the small square hole in the rear corner of the picker cover (Figure 6).

Disconnect the robotics cable from the picker (Figure 10). Hold the cable as closely to the connector as possible, and gently move it back and forth until it becomes loose.

    Install the New Robotic Picker 1. Remove the new picker from its packaging. Save the packaging so that the old picker can be returned to Spectra Logic. 2. Place the picker in the library and rotate it counter-clockwise (Figure 17).
  • Page 17 4. Gently lower the front of the picker so that it lays flat on the calibration block. It may be necessary to gently work the picker up and down to get the gears to correctly engage the picker rails. Caution: Do not force the robotic picker gears into the picker rails.

    Replace the Library’s Side Panels 1. Carefully slide each side panel forward into place. • Use one hand to stabilize the panel from the inside (Figure 29). • Use one hand to pull from the outside (Figure 30). • If the panels are tight, gently tap them in with a rubber mallet.     1. Close and lock the front door of the library. Note: The library will not initialize if the door is open. Some Spectra 2K libraries require the door to be locked as well. 2. Plug the library in and turn on the library power.
