Ensure the surface around the battery cover is dry. Do not allow water to enter the battery compartment. Turn the bat- tery cover thumbscrew counterclockwise until it comes free. -

If you take the steps described below but the problem is not fixed, the scale needs to be serviced by a qualified scale technician. -
