Lifted Front Suspension Components
LIFTED LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY REMOVAL
1.
Electric Vehicle: Disconnect the batteries and discharge the controller. See Disconnecting the Batteries –
Electric Vehicles on page 1-4.
Gasoline Vehicle: Disconnect battery and spark plug wire(s). See Disconnecting the Battery- Gasoline
Vehicles on page 1-3.

Loosen lug nuts on both front wheels and raise front of vehicle with a chain hoist or floor jack. Place jack stands
under the aluminum rails of the vehicle frame just aft of the front suspension. Lower the vehicle onto the jack
stands. See General Warnings on page 1-2.
3.
Remove both front wheels.
4.
Support the leaf spring assembly (1) (Figure 7-20, Page 7-19).
5.
Remove the bolts (2) and tapered washers (3) from the bottom of each spindle (4) (Figure 7-21, Page 7-20).
6.
Remove the four bolts (5) and bottom spring plate (6) (Figure 7-20, Page 7-19).
7.
Remove leaf spring assembly.
LIFTED LEAF SPRING ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION
1.
Lift the leaf spring assembly (1) into position. Align the center bolt (7) with the center hole (8) in the frame
mount (Figure 7-20, Page 7-19).
2.
Install the spring retaining plate (6) with the four bolts (5). Tighten the bolts to 37 lb·ft (50 N·m) (Figure 7-20,
Page 7-19).
3.
Install the tapered washers (3) with the tapered end opposite of the bolts (2) (Figure 7-21, Page 7-20).
4.
Apply thread locker to the bolts.
5.
Install the bolts into the bottom of each spindle (4) (Figure 7-21, Page 7-20). Tighten the bolts to 118 lb·ft
(160 N·m).
6.
Install the wheels and finger tighten the lug nuts.
7.
Lower the vehicle and finish tightening lug nuts (using a crisscross pattern) to 55 lb·ft (74.6 N·m).
8.
Align the wheels.

Electric Vehicle: Connect batteries. See Connecting the Batteries – Electric Vehicles, Section 1, Page 1-4.
Gasoline Vehicle: Connect battery and spark plug wire(s).
