Read and observe all hazard alert messages in this publication.

vehicle maintenance or service.

Brakes

Incorrect brake pads
Brake pad installed incorrectly
Worn brake pads
Debris/contaminates on pad braking

Brake pads do not more freely in the
caliper
Brake component attachments are not
installed to specification
Rotor surface condition
Pad retainer spring damaged, loose or
missing
Caliper seized/drag

Check for
Verify that OEM brake pads are being
used
Friction material facing rotor surface
Lining thickness
Debris/contaminates on brake surface
Corrosion or debris on brake pads or
pad abutment face
Loose connections and fasteners
Excessive rotor cracking, heat
checking or runout
Inspect pad retainer for damage, fit
and function
Check if system is holding pressure.
Open bleed screw and see if brake
releases.
Verify all pistons move - Seat pistons
and then check piston movement
when brake applied.
Verify brake pads move freely in
caliper

Correction
Replace with OEM brake pads.
Correct the pad installation. Replace
the pads and rotor if necessary.
Replace the pads and rotor if
necessary.
Replace with OEM brake pads.
Clean brake pad edge and abutment.
Replace brake pads and abutment if
necessary.
Tighten the connections and fasteners
to the specified torque.
Replace rotor.
Correct the pad retainer installation or
replace pad retainer spring.
Investigate system issue.
Piston move freely. Investigate other
system issue.
Replace brake pads and wear plates.
