Information concerning in-ground use of pool.
Our steel wall pools are basically designed to be used above-ground in the garden. It should be noted there-
fore that the product warranty does not cover damage caused by improper installation or if the pool is used
as an in-ground installation. If you want to use the pool in-ground it is recommended to contact a pool profes-
sional to handle this task. If you wish to use the pool in-ground so the following important advance rules are
followed:
Location:
Check your local authority whether any permission is required to place a pool in the desired location. It is re-
commended that you always contact your insurance company before you install an in-ground pool. It is you
as a pool owner, who is obligated to inform your insurance company that you have pool on your lot.
Preparation:
Select the area where the pool should be.
For round pools the installation area should be diameter 1 meter wider than the pool itself. For oval pools
then the area must be one meter longer than the length of the pool and two meters wider than the width of
the pool.
Base:
The base of the pool must be completely level and 100% solid. Never install a pool on a base which is not
firm and solid. This can course the pool construction to become unstable because of the weight of the water.
Remember that 1000L => 1m3 => 1000 kg! There cannot be any holes in the base, small rocks, plants or
roots that could perforate the liner.
We recommend to make a net-enhanced concrete base with a thickness of 15 cm. This base should be com-
pletely smooth and 100% level.
To protect the liner always place a ground cover on top of the concrete base. If desired you can in addition
place a layer of insulating bottom plates in 50 mm hard styrolit material, which is otherwise used to insulate
domestic floors. If styrolit is used you should place the ground cover on top of the styrolit.
Choose a sunny location for the pool which is also close to water, drainage and electricity.
Do not place the pool above electric cables in the ground, gas cables in the ground, or in areas with high le-
vels of ground water.
Do not place the pool under electric cables in the air.
Select a location that provides shelter and where there are no trees close to the pool as leaves otherwise
continuously will enter the pool.
Excavation:
The excavation should be 15 cm deeper than the pool's height. If the pool is 90 cm in height so the depth
must be 105 cm.
Installation - Option 1: Construction together with a pool deck in wood
When the pool base is ready the pool must be constructed in the same way as if it were standing freely as an
above-ground pool in the garden. We always recommend to have the pool standing freely in the hole without
any contact to other structures. For this reason the earth must be leveled off the bottom plate and it must be
sloping outwards so that no soil and gravel can move down to the pool wall, even in heavy rain, etc.
