Troubleshooting

Cannot connect to Slingbox

The following table discusses the probable reasons for not being able to connect to Slingbox and
their solutions.
Plausible Problems
There is no network connectivity on your
smartphone.
You are using invalid Slingbox credentials
You are switching from Cellular/Wi-Fi-based
network connection to USB-based networking
or vice-versa.
You are using an older version of the Slingbox
firmware.
Remote Viewing is not enabled on Slingbox.

Low Bitrate

The following table discusses the probable reasons for experiencing extremely low-bitrate conditions
and their solutions.

Low battery level.

Table 1: Cannot Connect to Slingbox
Check network connection: Wi-Fi, cellular
wireless network, or USB/Bluetooth.
Recheck your Finder ID or IP address/port
number and password.
If you are trying to connect to the Slingbox
using the USB tethering, try reconnecting once
or twice, as this problem appears to occur
intermittently. You need to be connected to the
network to access Slingbox.
This version of SlingPlayer Mobile requires
Slingbox firmware v1.0.80. See "Upgrading
Slingbox Firmware" on page 37 for more
information. Also, you must be on the same
network as your Slingbox to update the
firmware.
Enable Remote Viewing on Slingbox. See
"Network Settings" on page 41.
Table 2: Low Bitrate
We recommend that the phone be charge to at
least 50% of the battery capacity for optimum
streaming. Try charging your phone, it could
improve performance.
