Manual operation is engaged by an internal change- over mechanism. Manual operation is automatically disengaged when motor is started again. The hand- wheel does not rotate during motor operation.

They protect the valve in case of limit switching failure during motor operation and serve the purpose as limitation for manual operation via handwheel.
