Manual charge
• Fully open the valves of the outdoor unit at liquid and gas sides, operate the air conditioner in COOL mode,
• Charge refrigerant into service port at the gas side. In this time, choke the refrigerant slightly by operating the
valve of the cylinder to charge liquid refrigerant.
• The liquid refrigerant may charged suddenly, therefore be sure to charge refrigerant gradually.
Automatic charge
• Keep the valve of the outdoor unit closed, be sure to charge the liquid refrigerant into the service port at the liquid
side.
• If the specifi ed amount of refrigerant cannot be charged, go on to the automatic charge set up procedure.
※ If the system has no refrigerant because of maintenance, it needs to charge refrigerant before automatic charge.
Changing amount of refrigerant before automatic charging = Refrigerant in the system when shipped from the
factory + [1] + [2] + [3]
◆ Not knowing refrigerant pipes sizes and lengths (Unable to calculate
additional refrigerant)
Additional refrigerant charge amount at site = [1] + [2] + [3]
[1] Compensation by system HP (Table 1)*
[2] Check approximately direct distance of nearest outdoor unit and indoor unit and regard as main pipe.
Calculate the additional amount of refrigerant by the pipe diameter on the liquid side and the pipe length
(approximately length of main liquid pipe x additional refrigerant charge amount per 1 m liquid pipe) (Table 2)
[3] Corrective amount of refrigerant depending on the Indoor units (Table 3-1, 3-2, 3-3 and 3-4)
If the additional amount of refrigerant is larger than 5 kg
• Keep the valve of the outdoor unit closed, be sure to charge the liquid refrigerant into the service port at the liquid
side.
• If the specifi ed amount of refrigerant cannot be charged or charging the additional amount of refrigerant is
fi nished. Go on to the automatic charge set up procedure.
If the additional amount of refrigerant is less than 5 kg
• Go on to the automatic charge set up procedure.
※ If the system has no refrigerant because of maintenance, it needs to charge refrigerant before automatic charge.
Changing amount of refrigerant before automatic charging = Refrigerant in the system when shipped from the

[1] 18 HP Compensation by system HP = -1.00 kg
[2] Approximately length of main liquid pipe length 50 m,
Main pipe size ∅15.88
Additional amount of refrigerant = 50 m x 0.16 kg/m
= 8.00 kg (approximately length of main liquid pipe x
additional refrigerant charge amount per 1 m liquid pipe)
[3] Corrective amount of refrigerant depending on the
Indoor units = 0.60 x 3 =1.80 kg
Total additional amount of refrigerant = [1] + [2] +[3]
= (-1.00) + 8.00 + 1.80 = 8.80 kg > 5.00 kg
Precharge amount 8.8 kg

Open the room windows which indoor units installed when the indoor
temperature decrease to prohibbited area.
Warming area
When indoor temperature is high or cylinder temperature is
low, charging speed become slower, so if you want to speed
up charging, then warm cylinder.
Under other conditions, warming cylinder may increase
charging speed.
Please warm cylinder when 7-segment [B] starts flashing if
need.
(Automatic charge set up procedure No.5)
* When warming, cylinder should not be over the value
stipulated by local law, regulation and cylinder specification.
Indoor unit protection area
It is possible to charge refrigerant but system might stop
because of indoor unit protection.
Open the room windows and doors which indoor units
installed to raise indoor temperature.
Example charging speed of below outdoor temperature
Outdoor dry bulb 30~35°C 25 kg/h
Result when the cylinder was warmed in outdoor 30~35°C
If outdoor temperature is higher or lower than the condition above, charging speed might decrease.
Setting before automatic refrigerant charging
Fully open the valves of the outdoor unit at liquid and gas sides
1
Connect the hose to the refrigerant charge service port (brown heat insulation) and connect a cylinder as shown
2
in the fi gure below.
The outdoor unit to which the communication line is connected to the (indoor, outdoor) communication wiring
terminals (Uc(U5,U6)) of the outdoor unit is a center outdoor unit.
While carrying out the automatic refrigerant charge, open the right side front panel on both center and terminal
outdoor units
Make sure the front panel on the front left is closed, otherwise the refrigerant charging accuracy become poor.
In the case of an outdoor conbination system, be sure to connect the refrigerant cylinder only to the center outdoor
unit.
