Troubleshooting (Continued)
Table I-1
Problem
The wireless MK22X0 does not
retain its WEP Key encryption after
a reboot
The Mobile Companion icon does
not appear in the task tray
When downloading files to the
MK22X0 from a .zip file using
ActiveSync, a message displays
indicating there is not enough free
disk space to copy the application
When downloading a large file over
ethernet, IE issues an insufficient
memory message
When upgrading using a PC card,
the MK22X0 cannot find files on the
PC card
Possible Causes
Encryption keys not
saved in Aegis.reg or
Spectrum24.reg.
Poor RF card connection
or bad RF card.
The radio software is not
present in the \platform
folder.
Files cannot download
directly from a .zip file.
For some file types, IE
requires free RAM
equivalent to twice the
file's size.
The PC card is not
formatted properly for
the MK22X0.
Possible Solutions
Set encryption keys using Mobile
Companion, then select
Start > Tools > Save
or
Spectrum24
Start > Tools > Save Aegis
to save them to Aegis.reg /
Settings
Spectrum24.reg.
Check communication parameter settings.
Open a command window using
and type ipconfig to
Programs > Command
list the status of all radio and ethernet
interfaces.
Remove the PCMCIA card cover (see
Installing/Removing the RF Card on page
2-19). Press the card ejector button to
release the card, then press the card back
into its connector to secure it in place.
Reboot the MK22X0. If the Mobile
Companion icon still does not appear in the
task tray, replace the RF card.
Verify presence of radio software or re-install
\Platform partition software.
Extract/unzip the files to the host computer,
then transfer the unzipped files to the
MK22X0 using ActiveSync.
This is an IE limitation.
Format the PC card as FAT16.
