Charging the System with R-410A Refrigerant

Prepare the following items:
- Gauge manifold
- Vacuum pump
- R-410A refrigerant cylinder (Use a max of 90% of the initial weight)
- Scale
- Safety goggles
- Heavy-duty work gloves
When handling refrigerant, the following precautions should always be observed. Failure to do
so may cause explosion, fire, loss of vision, lack of oxygen, burns, injury or unit malfunction.
Refrigerant services must be performed by a licensed professional only
Always wear proper eye protection and gloves while handling refrigerant
Avoid working near flammable materials
Work in well-ventilated area only
Maintain the temperature of the refrigerant container below 104 °F (40 °C)
Be careful not to allow refrigerant to contact eyes or skin
If liquid refrigerant strikes eye or skin:
Do not rub the eye or skin
Splash large quantities of cool water on the eye or skin
Apply clean petroleum jelly to the skin
Go immediately to a physician or hospital
Step 1
Connect gauge manifold
1) Evacuate the system
• 15 minutes or more
• 30 inHg (100 kPa) or more of vacuum
Step 2
2) Stop evacuating the system
• Leave for 5 minutes
3) Check the vacuum
Step 3
Connect to refrigerant source
Step 4
Test the system for leaks
Charge the system with R-410A
Step 5
See "Technical Specifications" for the specified amount
Step 6
Remove gauge manifold

repair the connection
or components.
