Installation and maintenance should be performed by experienced technicians only. The SuperServer 5018R-WR is a high-end server based on the SC815TQ-R500WB chassis and the X10SRW-F motherboard.

    Chapter 1 Introduction Overview The SuperServer 5018R-WR is comprised of two main subsystems: the SC815TQ- R500WB 1U chassis and the X10SRW-F motherboard. Please refer to our website for information on operating systems that have been certified for use with the system (www.supermicro.com).

    UPER ERVER 5018R-WR User's Manual Motherboard Features The SuperServer 5018R-WR is built around the X10SRW-F, a single processor motherboard based on the Intel C612 Express chipset. Below are the main features ® of the X10SRW-F. (See Figure 1-1 for a block diagram of the chipset.)

    Preparing for Setup The box the SuperServer 5018R-WR was shipped in should include two sets of rail assemblies, two rail mounting brackets and the mounting screws you will need to install the system into the rack. Follow the steps in the order given to complete the installation process in a minimum amount of time.

    Chapter 2: Server Installation Rack Mounting Considerations Ambient Operating Temperature If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the ambient operating tempera- ture of the rack environment may be greater than the room's ambient temperature. Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environ- ment compatible with the manufacturer’s maximum rated ambient temperature (TMRA).

If the system has already been mounted into a rack, you can skip ahead to Sections 2-5 and 2-6. There are a variety of rack units on the market, which may mean the assembly procedure will differ slightly.

    Chapter 2: Server Installation Installing the Outer Rails Begin by measuring the distance from the front rail to the rear rail of the rack. Attach a short bracket to the front side of the right outer rail and a long bracket to the rear side of the right outer rail.

    UPER ERVER 5018R-WR User's Manual Power The main power button is used to apply or remove power from the power supply to the server system. Turning off system power with this button removes the main power but keeps standby power supplied to the system. Control Panel LEDs The control panel located on the front of the SC815TQ-R500WB chassis has five LEDs.

A connection to the SATA backplane enables this LED to blink on and off when that particular drive is being accessed.

If you need to disconnect any of these cables, you should take care to keep them routed as they were originally after reconnecting them (make sure the red wires connect to the pin 1 locations).
