Battery Information

Before you use Roomba for
the first time, or when returned
from service you may need to
activate Roomba by removing
the battery pull tab, if applicable.
Please take care when removing the pull tab,
if it breaks you will need to open the bottom
cover and make sure that nothing is blocking
the battery connection points.
See "Removing Roomba's Battery" section
for help on how to open the bottom cover.
Charging Roomba can be done in 2
different ways:
Through the home base OR Directly to the
power supply (bypassing the home base).
Home Base:

Maintenance Guide
16-Hour Refresh Charge
If Roomba has been left off of the Home
Base for an extended period, it will automat-
ically initiate a special 16-hour charge cycle.
This extensive charge refreshes the battery
and extends battery life. While charging, the
battery indicator pulses quickly.
For some models, all indicators on the robot
will turn off after 1 minute of charging.
This is normal behaviour, designed to
conserve energy. For best results, do not
interrupt the refresh charge. Charging time
under normal conditions is at least 2 hours.
This is not applicable to the Li-ion battery.
TIP: For best performance, always store
Roomba on its charging base.
Resetting Roomba's Battery
Roomba's battery may need resetting if
its run-time starts shortening over a period
of time.
1. In the Max mode, run the Roomba for
one complete cycle without a home
base present, repeat steps 3 and 4 a
few times. If your Roomba does not
have max mode, run several clean
cycles until Roomba stops and plays
the 'dead battery' song.
2. Reset the Roomba charging system.
Do this by removing the battery and
holding down the "clean" button for at
least 20 seconds. Then reinstall the
battery.
3. Plug the charger into Roomba
(avoid using the home base if you have
one so as to ensure the Roomba's
charging cycle is not interrupted).
4. Charge the battery until the Roomba
power light is solid green and keep the
Roomba on the charger for an additional
72 hours (3 days). Note: Do not
interrupt this charging cycle.
TIP: Never store the battery inside unit until
it is on the home base and charging.
For storage and transporting Roomba, fully
charge the battery and remove the battery.
