  • memory for maximum/minimum values
  • hold function automatically for 15 sec.
  • lock function for long-term monitoring

How the Unit Works

Every body releases infrared energy. The unit's optics and detector sense infrared energy and translate this information into a digital reading which is displayed. .

Installation

Open the battery compartment turning the cover 45° clockwise. Remove the battery safety strip. Pull off the protection foil on the display. The unit is now ready to use.

Use

Just aim at the measuring object, press the button, and read the surface temperature in less than a second. When the button is released, the last temperature reading will hold on the display for 15 seconds.

Distance, Spot Size, and Field of View

Distance, Spot Size, and Field of View

As the distance (D) from the object increases, the spot size (S) of the area measured by the unit becomes larger a ratio D:S = 1:1 (e.g. 10 cm distance = 10 cm spot size). To get the most accurate temperature reading, aim at the target as near as possible.

Shiny and Polished Surfaces

Inaccurate readings can result from measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces. To compensate for this, cover the surface to be measured with masking tape or flat-colored paint and measure the surface.

Switching °C°F:
Press the ON key to power on the instrument. Now press the MODE key four times until the symbol °C or °F is flashing. Press the ON key again to change and confirm the desired unit (°C/°F).

Min / Max Mode:
Your Mini-Flash is able to indicate the highest or lowest temperature during the measuring process. Press the ON key to power on the instrument. Now press the MODE key once to activate the minimum function, twice to activate the maximum function. Press the ON key again to confirm.

Lock Mode:
For long-term monitoring your Mini-Flash provides a Lock Mode. Press the ON key to power on the instrument. Now press the MODE key three times to activate the lock function. Press the ON key again to confirm. The measurement will last 10 minutes at most.

Battery change

Battery change

Change the battery when the middle or right battery power symbol appears on the display (lithium cell CR2032). Open the battery compartment at the back of the instrument turning the cover 45 ° clockwise. Insert a new battery, observe correct polarity.

Attention:
Power off the instrument before changing battery.

Low batteries should be changed soon to avoid the damage resulting from a leaking battery. Batteries contain harmful acids. Wear protective glasses and gloves when handling with leaked batteries.

Attention:
Please do not dispose of old electronic devices and empty batteries in household waste. To protect the environment, take them to your retail store or to appropriate collection sites according to national or local regulations.

Cautions

  • Protect the unit from EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) from induction heaters and microwave ovens and Electro Static Discharge
  • Do not leave the unit on or near objects of high temperature.
  • Do not aim at hot targets too near.
  • Protect the unit from "thermal shock" (caused by large or abrupt ambient temperature changes).
  • Not recommended for taking human temperature.

Reminders

  • Not recommended for use in measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
  • The unit cannot measure through transparent surfaces such as glass or plastic. It will measure the surface temperature of the glass instead.
  • Steam, dust, smoke, etc., can prevent accurate measurement by obstructing the unit's optics. Hold the unit back and at an angle to ensure the most accurate measurement.

Care and Cleaning

  • The Sensor Lens is the most delicate part of the thermometer. Please protect the sensor part from dirt. Gently clean it with a soft cloth moistened with water or medical alcohol.
  • Avoid splashes and spills on the unit.
  • Store at a temperature of between 10°C to 40°C (50°F to 104°F).

Error messages

Temperature taken is not within the measuring range:

„Hi" = temperature is higher than 220°C (428°F)

„Lo" = temperature is lower than –33°C (27°F)

„Er2"= rapid ambient temperature change

„Er3"= ambient temperature not within the operating range

„Er" = All other error messages:
Remove the battery for 1 minute, then repower it.

If the error message does not disappear, contact the retailer for further service.
