Before you use this product

Risk of injury:

  • Do not use the instrument in the microwave
  • Be careful when handling the probe
  • Keep this device and the battery out of reach of children.
  • Small parts can be swallowed by children (under three years old).
  • Batteries contain harmful acids and may be hazardous if swallowed. If a battery is swallowed, this can lead to serious internal burns and death within two hours. If you suspect a battery could have been swallowed or otherwise caught in the body, seek medical help immediately.
  • Batteries must not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited, taken apart or recharged.
    Risk of explosion!
  • Low batteries should be changed as soon as possible to prevent damage caused by leaking.
  • Remove the battery if the device will not be used for an extended period of time.
  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucosa when handling leaking batteries. In case of contact, immediately rinse the affected areas with water and consult a doctor.

  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, vibrations or shocks. Only the probe and the cable are heat resistant until 200°C. Never place the probe directly over fire.
  • Do not immerse the cable and the probe into water. Water can penetrate into the precision sensor and cause malfunction. Not suitable for dishwasher.

Getting started / Operation

  • Pull the protective foil off the display.
  • Open the battery compartment at the back of the instrument and insert the battery 1.5 V AAA, polarity as illustrated.
  • The device is ready for use.

Setting of the clock

  • Press and hold the MODE-button in time mode (CLOCK) for 3 seconds to enter setting mode of the clock.
  • The display is flashing.
  • Press the HR-button to select 12-hr or 24-hr system.
  • Press the START/STOP button to confirm the setting.
  • Set the present time by pressing the HR-button for the hours and the MIN- button for the minutes. Press the START/STOP to confirm the setting.
  • Press and hold the HR or MIN button in the setting mode for fast running.

Measuring procedure

  • Insert the plug of stainless steel probe into the device.
  • On the display appears the measured temperature.
  • Select with the °C/°F button on the back °F (Fahrenheit) or °C (Celsius) as the temperature unit. Push the sensor at least 5 cm (vertically) into the middle of the thickest part of the meat, for poultry between the torso and the thigh (for steaks please horizontally); it should touch neither bones nor cartilage and should not protrude from the meat.
  • Put the meat into the oven and set the relevant oven temperature.
  • Route the cable to the outside. It adapts to the oven seal. Take care of sharpedged frames and hinges.
  • Use the magnet to fasten the thermometer in position near the oven (Cable length 1 m) or place the instrument on a flat surface.

Setting of the upper limit and lower limit temperature alert

  • Press the ALERT-button to select the mode for temperature alert (TEMP-SET): off (OFF), upper limit (flashing), lower limit (flashing)
  • To set an upper temperature limit, that means when passing the temperature an alarm is beeping, press the ALERT-button to select TEMP-SET (flashing) and set the desired temperature by pressing the DOWN- or UP-button.
  • To set a lower temperature limit, that means when falling below the temperature an alarm is beeping, press the ALERT-button to select TEMP-SET (flashing) and set the desired temperature by pressing the DOWN- or UP-button.
  • Press and hold the DOWN or UP button in the setting mode for fast running.

Max-min-function

  • When pressing the MAX/MIN-button, the display shows the maximum temperature since the last reset (MAX).
  • When pressing the MAX/MIN-button again, the display shows the minimum temperature since the last reset (MIN).
  • To return to the present temperature display, press the MAX/MIN-button once more.
  • To reset the maximum and minimum values, hold the START/STOP-button for 3 seconds, while MAX or MIN is indicated ( ---).

Count down and count up timer

  • Select the timer mode by pressing the MODE-button (TIMER).
  • For count down, set the desired time by pressing the HR-button and the MIN- button. Press the START/STOP-button to start or stop counting down. Press the HR-button and the MIN-button at the same time to reset the timer to 0:00 00.
  • To start count up timer, press the START/STOP-button, when the timer is reset to 0:00 00. Press the START/STOP-button to stop or start again counting up. Press the HR-button and the MIN-button at the same time to reset the timer to 0:00 00.
  • Timer and temperature alert can be worked simultaneously.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean the instrument and the probe with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents. Protect from moisture.
  • Should water or steam enter the socket, it could affect contact with the probe. Dry the plug connector with a cloth before you connect it to your instrument.

Battery replacement

  • Replace the battery, when the functions become weak.

Troubleshooting

Temperature is too high ➜ Check the position of the sensor in the meat

Waste disposal

Disposal of the electrical device


Remove non-permanently installed batteries and rechargeable batteries from the device and dispose of them separately.

This product is labelled in accordance with the EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).

Please do not dispose of this product in ordinary household waste. As a consumer, you are required to take end-of-life devices to a designated collection point for the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment, in order to ensure environmentally-compatible disposal. Observe the current regulations in place!

Disposal of the batteries


Never dispose of empty batteries and rechargeable batteries with ordinary household waste. They contain pollutants which, if improperly disposed of, can harm the environment and human health. As a consumer, you are required by law to take them to your retail store or to an appropriate collection site depending on national or local regulations in order to protect the environment.

The symbols for the contained heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead.
