Proper servicing and adjustment is the key to long life for any implement. Performing a careful inspection after
periods of use or on a regular basis can help avoid costly downtime and repair.
Check all bolts after using the unit for several hours to make sure they are tight. Replace any worn, damaged
or illegible safety signs by obtaining new signs from your Rhino dealer.
Parts used on your box blade have been designed specifically for use in the machine and should only be
replaced with genuine Rhino parts. Do not alter the machine's design in any way that would negatively impact
the unit's ability to perform as it was originally designed.

Replacing Scarifier Points

Scarifier points are removable by heating them in the dimpled are on both sides and then knocking them off
with a blunt punch. Using a hammer, tap the new point onto the scarifier shank securely. Indent the new point
edge into the recess on each side of scarifier shank with a hammer and punch after the point is in position.

Cutting Edge Maintenance

The front and rear cutting blades provided on the box blade each have two cutting edges. Replace the
complete cutting blade when both cutting edges are worn out.
To reverse the cutting blade, do the following:
1. Unbolt the cutting blade from the machine when the bottom cutting edge wears out.
2. Inspect hardware for signs of wear and replace as needed.
3. Reattach the cutting blade using the plow bolts shown in this manual and torque the nuts to the correct
torque (See Torque Chart).

Storage

Clean, inspect and make necessary adjustments or repairs on the box blade when parking it for extended
periods of time or when parking it at the end of the season. Proper storage will help ensure the machine's
readiness the next time it is needed. Perform the following steps when storing the machine:
1. Clean any dirt that may have accumulated on the tines. Scrape off compacted dirt and then wash
thoroughly with water.
2. Check tines for wear and replace as necessary.
3. Inspect the unit for loose, damaged or worn parts. Adjust and tighten loose parts, or replace damaged or
worn parts with genuine Rhino parts.
4. Repaint parts where paint is worn or scratched to prevent rust. A light coating of oil may be applied to the
lower edges of the tines instead of paint to help minimize oxidation.
5. Store the unit in a clean, dry place, resting securely on the level ground.

Proper Torque For Fasteners

The chart lists the correct tightening torque for fasteners. When bolts are to be tightened or replaced, refer to
this chart to determine the grade of bolts and the proper torque except when specific torque values are
assigned in manual text.
Recommended Torque in Foot Pounds Unless Otherwise Stated in the Manual*
NOTE: These values apply to fasteners as received from supplier, dry or when lubricated with normal engine
oil. They do not apply if special graphited or molydisulphide greases or other extreme pressure lubricants are
used. This applies to both UNF fine and UNC coarse threads.
