Glossary
AutoEdit Lets you control two VCRs simultaneously with a single
remote. Useful when making a copy of a video tape.
A/V Cables & Jacks Commonly called "RCA-type" cables. Improves
picture and sound quality. Required for stereo audio.
Code Search Simplifies programming the remote control by not
requiring you to identify and enter a code to operate a component.
Commercial
Advance Lets you skip commercials during video
tape playback.
EnergySaver Automatically turns the VCR off after a (user definable)
period of inactivity, cutting energy consumption.
Express Recording (XPR) A method of timer recording that lets you
tape the remaining portion of a program.
Movie
Advance Helps you locate certain parts of prerecorded
movies (rented or purhased).
Program Express Lets you quickly program a timer recording using the
VCR's front panel buttons instead of the on-screen menu.
Pro-Tect Plus
™
Allows you to "lock" the VCR so that the front panel
and remote control buttons don't work. Useful for protecting timer
recordings.
QuickSet Guide An interactive, menu-based guide which helps you
set up a number of your VCR's features. Also accessible through the
main on-screen menu.
SAP (Second Audio Program) A second sound track that may be
included with a stereo broadcast. Usually used for foreign language
dubs of programs.
Shuttle Ring A control on the VCR's front panel that allows variable-
speed control of picture search.
VCR Channels List A "list" of channels you want the VCR to be able
to tune when using the CH+/- buttons.
VCR Plus+ Simplifies timer recording by entering a PlusCode
Programming Number from an available TV listing.
XDS Extended Data Services—a system where time information is
encoded in a TV broadcast, allowing the VCR's clock to be set
automatically.
