Ink Supply Unit (Ink Pack) Handling Precautions
• Keep ink packs out of the reach of children. Do not allow children to drink from or handle the ink packs.
• Store ink packs at room temperature out of direct sunlight.
• To ensure print quality, Epson recommends using ink packs either within one year of installing them,
or before the expiration date printed on the packaging, whichever occurs first.
• Allow ink packs that have been stored at low temperatures for an extended period of time to return to
room temperature over a period of four hours.
• The green IC chip on each ink pack retains a variety of ink-related information, such as the ink level,
so that the pack may be removed and reinserted freely. Do not touch the green IC chip on the ink
packs. This may prevent normal operation and printing.
• Install ink packs for all colors. You cannot print unless all colors are installed.
• Do not leave the printer without ink packs installed. The ink in the printer will dry out and the printer will
not function as expected. Leave ink packs for all colors installed even when the printer is not in use.
• If you remove an ink pack for later use, protect the ink supply area from dirt and dust and store it in the
same environment as the product. Note that there is a valve in the ink supply port, making covers or
plugs unnecessary, but care is needed to prevent the ink from staining items that the ink pack touches.
Do not touch the ink supply port or surrounding area.
• Dried ink on the supply port may cause ink leaks when the ink pack is reinserted and used. Wipe off
any excess ink before reinserting.
• Do not dismantle or alter ink packs. This could damage the print head and may prevent the product
from printing properly.
• Do not drop ink packs or subject them to impacts, otherwise ink may leak.
• The ink packs may contain recycled materials; this does not affect printer functions or performance.
• To maintain the quality of the print head, this product stops printing before ink packs are completely
expended.
• If ink gets on your skin, wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If ink gets into your eyes, flush them
immediately with water. If discomfort or vision problems persist, see a doctor immediately. If ink gets
into your mouth, spit it out and see a doctor right away.
• Be careful not to touch any ink when you handle the ink packs.
• Even when the printer is not in use, some ink will be consumed for all colors by head cleaning and
other maintenance operations needed to keep the head in good condition.
• If ink spills, wipe it up immediately. To prevent the ink from spreading, blot the spill with a dry cloth,
then wipe it with a damp cloth. The ink will be hard to remove once it has dried.
