Figure 8.10 – Upper Controls
The lights are operational when the upper controls
emergency stop button is pulled up and the start switch
is turned on.
The engine speed increases to high idle when the plat-
form work lights are turned on.
Note
Working with the platform work lights on, while the en-
gine is off, can discharge the batteries enough that the
engine will not start and the emergency power system
will not operate. If the engine cannot be left running while
the lights are on, start and run the engine for at least 15
minutes each hour.

Platform Glazier Package

The glazier package allows the platform operator to
position glass at the work place. Refer to the Glazier
Package manual (Snorkel Part Number 0421269) for
information on proper use of the glazier package.
The package includes two lined trays with keeper pins,
platform rail padding, and tie-down straps with protectors
(refer to Figure 8.11).

Platform Capacity

The platform rated work load is the total weight of the
personnel and equipment that may be lifted in the
TB66J – 0083740
Tray
platform. The work load is stated on the platform rat-
ing placard mounted on the toeboard at the rear of the
platform.
The maximum total load carried by the glazier trays must
not exceed 250 lb (113 kg). The weight of the load in
the trays reduces the platform capacity by the amount
of the load.

Bump Guard System

The optional bump guard system is a spring mounted
padded railing below the platform. There are two infrared
lights mounted along the bottom of the platform next
to two infrared sensitive switches. The lights shine on
reflectors on the bump guard system and are reflected
back to the switches.
If the bump guard comes into contact with a stationary
object, the bump guard moves and one or both of the
light beams is broken. A dark switch removes control
from the platform control box, immediately stopping all
platform movement.
To override the bump guard infrared switch, in order to
move away from the stationary object, do the follow-
ing:
1. At the upper controls, hold the proximity override
switch up.
2. Use the controls on the upper control box to move
the platform away from the stationary object.
3. Return the proximity override switch to normal op-
eration.
