To return to the default settings
Select the item to be returned to the default
setting and press CLEAR.
To change the volume of all
speakers at one time
Adjust using VOLUME + or –.
x LEVEL
You can vary the level of each speaker as
follows. For DHC-NXM4D, be sure to set
"TEST TONE" to "ON" for easy adjustment.
Any items that are set to "NONE" in the "SIZE"
setting will not appear.
The default settings are underlined.
CENTER* Adjust the level of the center
0 dB speaker (–6 dB to +6 dB, 1 dB
increments).
SURROUND Adjust the level of the surround
LEFT* speaker (–6 dB to +6 dB, 1 dB
0 dB increments).

RIGHT*
0 dB
SUBWOOFER Adjust the level of the sub woofer
+2 dB (for DHC- (–10 dB to +10 dB for DHC-
NXM4D) NXM4D, LEVEL 3 – 1 for DHC-
NXM2D).

* DHC-NXM4D only
x BALANCE
You can vary the balance of the left and right
speakers as follows. For DHC-NXM4D, be sure
to set "TEST TONE" to "ON" for easy
adjustment.
The default setting is underlined.
FRONT Adjust the balance between the
– – – (CENTER) front left and right speakers
(6 steps left or right).
The center position is shown as
"– – –".
x TEST TONE (DHC-NXM4D only)
The speakers will emit a test tone to adjust
"BALANCE" and "LEVEL".
The default setting is underlined.
OFF The test tone is not emitted from
the speakers.
ON The test tone is emitted from each
speaker in sequence while
adjusting balance or level. When
you select one of the "SPEAKER
SETUP (LEVEL or
BALANCE)" items, the test tone
is emitted from the selected
speaker.
x LFE (DHC-NXM2D only)
You can enjoy low frequency effect with LFE
channel recorded on discs.
The default setting is underlined.
ON The LFE channel is output.
OFF The LFE channel is not output.
Note
If there is excessive wow or flutter when recording
audio from a DVD, set "LFE" to "OFF".
