6 HANDLING AND POSITIONING

6.1

Visual check and storage of the unit

Upon delivery of the goods by the carrier, it is necessary to:
• Check that the goods correspond to what is stated on the transport document by comparing the data on the label attached to the packaging.
• Check the integrity of the packaging and units.
Should damage or missing parts be discovered, indicate this on the transport document and file a formal complaint with the After Sales Service within 8
days of receipt of the goods.
Storage of the units must be protected from sunlight, rain, wind or sand.
Avoid exposing the units to direct contact with the sun's rays as the pressure inside the cooling circuit could reach dangerous values, and trip the safety
valves, if present.
Units must not be stacked.
6.2

Handling, lifting and positioning the unit

Handling must be carried out by qualified and properly equipped personnel with equipment suitable for the weight of the unit. Before correctly handling the
unit, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as:
- overalls;
- gloves;
- helmet;
- safety goggles;
- safety shoes.
Correct transport of units with R32 refrigerant
The units must be transported in full compliance with local legislation. The maximum quantity of refrigerant that can be transported will be determined by
the applicable transport regulation.
For transport in Europe, the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) must be applied. This
regulation allows a partial exemption providing the total amount of refrigerant carried on the same truck does not exceed 1000 points (1kg of A2L
corresponds to 3 points; 1kg of A1 corresponds to 1 point).
For example, a truck could be loaded as below:
• 10 units with 100kg of R410 per unit -> Total points: 1000
• 10 units with 33kg of R32 per unit -> Total points: 1000
• 4 units with 200kg of R410 per unit + 2 units with 33kg of R32 per unit -> Total points: 1000
Very simple countermeasures for transport allows for the partial exemption from the ADR. E.g.
• Fire extinguisher in the truck
• Non-sparking torch in the truck
• A red label applied on the external packaging (already applied by MEHITS)

Obligation to read
Before handling the machine, carefully read the following:
• The instructions to be followed;
• The information on the label on the machine and in the dimensional drawing;
• The instruction manual of the lifting equipment used.
The transport temperature must not be higher than 60 °C
