6.4 Attaching the chain hoist

Hang the hoist off its intended support. The structure
used to support the hoist must have sufficient strength to
withstand multiple loads. Hanging the hoist on an inade-
quate unit may cause the hoist to fall and cause injury
and / or damage.

All commissioning work on the chain hoist may only be
carried out by licensed specialists.
Step 1: When operating with chassis: Read and follow
the instructions for the chassis.

Operation

DANGER!
Danger of life by crashing the load!
Falling loads can cause serious injury or death.
- Never stand, linger or work below a suspended
load.
- Unsuitable suspension points can fail and the load
may drop. The chain hoist load hook should only
be secured to suitable suspension points on the
load.
- Loads may only be moved under supervision.
- Under no circumstances may a load be subjected to
a heavy blow or collision.
- A load must not be lifted by the chain hoist if it is
slipping, falling or if its component parts are not se-
cured firmly together.
- A rusted or damaged chain hoist must never be
used.
- A load lifted by the chain hoist should not be left un-
attended.
- Care should be taken during lifting that the opera-
tor does not stand within the working range of the
load.
- When leaving the workplace, lower the load..
DANGER!
Overloading is life-threatening!
Carriers not intended for use with the chain hoist and
its load-bearing capacity can give way.
- The chain hoist should always be suspended from
suitable equipment which has sufficient load-bear-
ing capacity to withstand the weight of the load and
the chain hoist.
If the load-bearing capacity is exceeded, the chain
hoist may fail and the load may fall.
- Only loads which do not exceed the load-bearing
capacity may be suspended.
CAUTION!
Risk of crushing!
Injuries to hands and fingers may result from impro-
per use of the electric chain hoist.
- - Never grasp the chain while the equipment is in
operation.
