With the RSC switch in the ON position and the dial
adjusted, the system will function as follows: As the
truck speed increases to the set speed and the throt-
tle pedal released, dynamic retarding will apply. As
the truck speed tries to increase, the amount of
retarding effort will automatically adjust to keep the
selected speed. When the truck speed decreases,
the retarding effort is reduced to maintain the
selected speed. If the truck speed continues to
decrease to approximately 5 kph (3 mph) below the
set speed, dynamic retarding will turn off automati-
cally. If the truck speed must be reduced further, the
operator can turn the dial to a new setting or depress
the retard pedal.
If the operator depresses the retard pedal, and the
retard effort called for is greater than that from the
automatic system, the demand from the pedal will
override the RSC.

Statex III Download Port

Statex III download port (14, Figure 32-6) is used by
qualified personnel to access the Statex III electric
propulsion diagnostic information and data.

Engine Diagnostic Port (CENSE)

Engine diagnostic port (13, Figure 32-6) is used by
qualified personnel to access the engine diagnostic
information for the CENSE system. Refer to the
engine manufacturer's service publications for trou-
bleshooting information.

Engine Diagnostic Connectors

Engine diagnostic connector (12, Figure 32-6) is for
qualified personnel to access the Centry™ fuel con-
trol system and Quantum system diagnostic informa-
tion. The Centry system is optional.
Operator Cab and Controls

Data Storage Button

Data storage button (1, Figure 32-6) is used to record
a snapshot of the Statex III drive system.

Passenger Seat

The passenger seat is mounted on top of the right-
hand portion of the center console.
The area beneath the passenger seat provides a
cabinet for various 24VDC electrical components.
Consult the service manual for service involving any
of these components.

1. Payload Meter

PAYLOAD METER
Payload meter (1, Figure 32-7) and payload meter
download connector (2) are used to provide manage-
ment with operational data, such as tonnage hauled
and cycle times.
Refer to Section 60, Payload Meter III, for a complete
description of the payload meter and its functions.

Payload Meter Download Connector

Payload meter download connector (2, Figure 32-7)
is used with a special cable to allow payload meter
(1) to communicate with a portable computer.
