Connect Antenna Lead-In Cables

This section describes the steps required to connect the antenna lead-in cables to the
RF surge protection devices. The surge protection units should already be mounted at
the ingress port in the cabinet.

Weatherproof the Antenna Cable Ingress

The installer must weatherproof the antenna cable ingress to the cabinet. This is where
the antenna lead-in cable connects to the surge suppression devices. Use the following
weatherproofing example as a guide.
Starting as close as possible to the cabinet body, wrap splicing tape tightly over the

bulkhead-end and work towards the antenna cable. Stretch and wind the tape back
along the mounting nut on the surge suppression device. Do not leave any gaps in
the coverage. It is recommended to apply a minimum of three (3) layers of splicing
tape.
Mold mastic putty tightly around the bulkhead.

Wrap the entire port assembly with three (3) layers of PVC tape.
