TIPS ON COOKING RICE
Rinsing Rice
Many package directions for special rices recommend rinsing the rice
before cooking. Rinsing the rice will remove excessive starch from the
rice. However, it also can rinse away water soluble vitamins. If you
desire to rinse the rice, place rice into a large bowl and run cold water
until water becomes clean. Drain all water from rice through a strainer.

If rice is too wet, next time decrea?e slightly the amount of water. If rice
is not completely cooked, next time increase the amount of water.
Rice can be cooked in other liquids such as chicken broth; however,
some sticking will occur. Soaking the Rice Pan before washing will

Storing Rice
Uncooked rice should be stored in a tightly covered container.
Cooked rice should be stored in a tightly covered container for up to
one week in the refrigerator or eight montfis in the freezer.
Recipes
Most recipes can be made successfully with "leftover" rice. However,
cold desserts and salads have a better texture if prepared pith freshly
cooked rice.
To Steam Foods
1. Place 3% cups (875mL) water in Rice Pan.
2. Put the Steaming Plate into the Rice Pan. Place foods to be steamed
on Steaming Plate. Place Cover on unit and plug cord into wall outlet.
3. Push WARM/COOK lever down. The red COOK light will glow.
4. Cook until desired degree of doneness is reached using Steaming
Chart on Page 9 as a reference.
5. When cooking is complete, move the WARM/COOK lever to the
WARM position. Then unplug unit from wall outlet and remove food
from Steaming Plate.
6. When unit has cooled, remove Rice Pan and Steaming Plate using
hot pads. Use caution moving inner pan since the water and pan
may still be very hot.
