Remote Control
The VCR's remote control can control functions on the brands
of cable boxes listed below. Some cable box brands have more
than one code. If your cable box does not function with a
specified code, try other codes.
TURN O N THE CABLE BO X
Turn the power on using the cable box's remote control.

Set the TV/ CABLE/ VCR switch on the VCR's remote

control to CABLE.

While holding down POW ER on the VCR's remote

control, use the NUMBER keys to enter the cable box
brand number from the chart at bottom left and then
press STOP .
Follow the example shown below.
● Once you have set the remote control to operate the
cable box, you don't have to repeat this step until you
replace the remote control's batteries.
O PERATE CABLE BO X
First, press PO W ER to see if the cable box's power goes

off as it should. If it does, try other functions ( CH 5 ∞
and the N U M BER keys can be used to operate the
cable box).
● For some brands of cable box, you must press
after having pressed the N U M BER keys.
● To return the remote to VCR control, set the
CABLE/ VCR switch to VCR.
N O TES:
● Depending on the kind of cable box, there may be cases
where some or all functions cannot be operated using the
Release
remote control.
● You must set the cable box brand for your remote control and
the cable box brand for your Controller (
The list of cable box brands that can be controlled by your
remote control is different from the list of brands that can be
controlled by your controller.
● It is possible that the remote control will not operate your cable
box even if the cable box's channels automatically change
during timer recording using the Controller.
● It's not possible to set the remote control for both your cable
box and your DBS receiver at the same time; you can only set
the remote control to the brand of either one.
● You have to subscribe to a cable service to receive cable
channels.
