DRY SUIT OWNER MANUAL
Loss / interruption of air supply
If your air supply is interrupted or lost, stop the dive immediately. Control the ascent
rate by releasing air from the drysuit through the vent valve.
Flooded drysuit
In the event of a zipper malfunction or other fatal drysuit issues, your drysuit may
flood.
Once your drysuit is flooded:
• Inflate your BCD to create positive buoyancy.
• Bring the leak into the lowest possible position to minimize air loss.
• Proceed to ascend controlled.
• End the diving session
Only if you fail to create positive buoyancy by inflating the BCD should you consider
shedding your weights. Even a small amount of cold water in the drysuit can „feel"
like a catastrophic malfunction. It is imperative to make every attempt to ascend
using the BCD before you drop your weights. If the drysuit „feels" flooded, but not
actually flooded, inflating the BCD with the weights being dropped can result in
EXTREMELY POSITIVE ASCENDING. Depending on the volume of air in the BCD
and the weight being carried, some dry divers can experience up to ONE HUNDRED
POUNDS of positive buoyancy. This buoyancy would be impossible to control and
lead to a very rapid and uncontrolled ascent.
Manual Version DS2019-1
CAUTION
The emergency skills above can be performed in a heated
swimming pool under supervision of a diving instructor
certified by a nationally recognized diving organization.
Adjust the cold protection / diving clothing to avoid
overheating.
WARNING
Discarding the weights after inflating the BCD can result in
an imminent risk of serious injury or death. Do not drop
your weights unless anything other than a sudden, rapid
and uncontrolled ascent would result in immediate death.
