The Nortel Application Gateway 1000/2000 delivers business applications to Internet-enabled IP telephones. It is an open, standards-based network platform that supports simultaneous voice and data services. The Application Gateway is designed to reside virtually anywhere in the enterprise network. IP telephones access the Application Gateway for applications.

Upgrading the Application Gateway If port 3001 is closed in your firewall, open it. The Administration Tool now uses ports 3001 and 9001 for TCP traffic over HTTPS. The administration ports are no longer configurable. Download the upgrade file to your local network. If you cannot locate the upgrade file or do not know which upgrade file to use, please contact our support organization.

Deployment and Operation Notes (2310) Alerts that remain on the screen without expiring will continue • to accumulate on phones in GXAS mode. If a heavy volume of long-lived alerts is delivered, the capacity of the Application Gateway will be impacted. Please be sure that the number of current (non-expired) alerts is kept to a reasonable level.
Workaround: To reconnect to the Application Gateway, either pick up the phone’s handset or reboot the phone. (760) If a Nortel IP telephone user hangs up the handset when viewing • the Express Directory or the Visual Voicemail messages list, the telephone exits from the voice office application and returns to the main Nortel display.
Known Issues Broadcast Server (511) Broadcast Server does not correctly reflect the automatically • created distribution lists after a synchronization with the Application Gateway. Only one of the distribution lists will include subscribers and all other distribution lists will be empty. Some distribution lists will be duplicated.
(2467) If you change a user account so that it no longer has permission • to send alerts to a shared distribution list, any alert that the user attempts to send results in the message “Error on Page”. Workaround: Use the Edit User Permissions page to remove all distribution lists from the user.
