A conventional sphygmomanometer uses a fundamentally different method of measuring BP based on auscultation. Printing OBIX BeCA has a thermal printer for use with continuous fan-fold thermal paper. 9.1. Paper Options The printer is optimized for use with plain thermal print paper, although alternative paper trays are available as accessories to allow the use of Philips or GE/Corometrics paper with preprinted grids. Print options available with alternative paper types may be restricted due to difference in size compared to the plain paper. Standard thermal print paper fades over a period of time, typically up to 5 years depending on storage conditions. If it is necessary to guarantee a longer storage time for paper traces, the use of Architrace paper is recommended. This has a 25-year rated lifetime. A central monitoring system that stores traces electronically is another option.

WARNING Portable RF communications equipment (with the exception of antenna mounting kit ACC-OBS-084) should be used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the OBIX BeCA. Otherwise, degradation of the performance of this equipment could result.
  • Page 85 Interference may occur in the vicinity of the equipment marked with the following symbol: NOTE 1 At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the higher frequency range applies. NOTE 2 These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects and people. The ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) bands between 150 kHz and 80 MHz are 6.765 MHz to 6.795 MHz; 13.553 MHz to 13.567 MHz; 26.957 MHz to 27.283 MHz; and 40.66 MHz to 4070 MHz. Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radio, AM and FM radio broadcast and TV broadcast cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the fetal monitor observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as re-orienting or relocating the fetal monitor. Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 kHz, field strengths should be less than 3V/m. February 2023 OBIX BeCA Fetal Monitor User Manual 777745-5...

The calculated de-rated intensity values for the OBIX BeCA fetal monitors compare very favorably with previously reported acoustic safety data for Doppler ultrasound instruments and are appropriate for all clinical applications recommended in this manual. At present, there is a clear consensus that the benefits to patients of prudent use of diagnostic ultrasound outweigh the risks that may be present. See:...
