Marine Commercial Control
System (MCC)
Marine Commercial Control (MCC), is a type-approved
control system that monitors your Volvo Penta engine.
MCC comprises an marine control unit (MCU), remote
panel (RP), shutdown module (SDM) and a relay card.
The MCU is the main system panel and it
communicates with all of the engine control units. The
slave panel may be located outside the engine
compartment and handles in exactly the same way as
the MCU.
The SDM manages automatic engine shutdown
should the engine show critically low oil pressure
(including reverse gear) or high coolant temperature.
It also has overspeed protection. Electronic systems in
the vicinity of the engine comprise the engine
management system (EMS) and a power
management unit (PM). The engine management unit
manages the injection of fuel with the aid of a number
of sensors. The power management system manages
primary and secondary battery supply and supplies
electrical power to the engine management unit, MCU
and SDM. The unit has overcurrent protection with
automatic reset.
