Atmel ATAN0008: ATAK51001 Quick Start Guide

1. Hardware Requirements

®
The Atmel
ATAK51001 Car Access Reference Design system requires that an
®
STK600 AVR
development board be acquired SEPARATELY. All of the other hard-
ware components are shipped complete with this kit including power supply and all
connecting cables. The demo can be run in stand-alone mode or with a PC GUI used
to display more information content. The key fob devices come fully configured but
require a CR2032 coin cell battery be acquired SEPARATELY.

Atmel ATAK51001 Hardware Setup

There are four antennas that must be connected to the RF receiver, LF Basestation,
and LF Driver boards respectively. Three 10-pin ribbon cables connect the Interface
board to the Atmel STK600. Be sure to correctly align the red stripe for "Pin 1" prop-
erly. Power is supplied from a wall transformer and a Y-cable. This powers both the
Atmel ATAK51001 hardware as well as the Atmel STK600.

Atmel STK600 Hardware Setup

Two 10-pin ribbon cables are used to connect the LEDs and Switches on the Atmel
STK600. The connection to the PC is provided through a USB to Serial convertor.
This requires a 2-pin cable be connected to the UART pins. Simply connect all the
hardware as shown in
Figure 1-1 on page 2
by matching the colors.
