Connecting external cables

The external cables to be connected include an RF cable, Ethernet cable, fiber cable,
grounding cable, and power cord.
CAUTION:
 Before connecting external cables, disconnect all power lines, and ensure that there is no dangerous
voltage on the neutral (N) line.
 Protect the AP and cables from water and avoid external cable damage.

Connecting the RF cable

The RF cable connects the antenna interface and the antenna. A finished RF cable with a
fixed length is not shipped with the AP unless ordered. If the ordered RF cable is not long
enough, you should provide a longer RF cable and an N-type RF connector and prepare the
cable at the site.
To connect the RF cable:
Screw one end of the feeder lightning arrester onto the antenna interface.

outdoor antenna. H3C recommends installing a feeder lightning arrester on each
antenna interface. Ensure that it is adequately grounded.
Wrap each joint with insulation tape first, and then with waterproof tape. Distinguish the

stickiness of the two sides of waterproof tape. Before wrapping a cable joint, stretch the
waterproof tape so that the width is three quarters of the original one to ensure tightness.

Connecting the Ethernet cables

The two types of Ethernet cables are:

Straight-through Ethernet cable: The wires of a twisted pair cable are crimped in the same
sequence in the RJ-45 connectors at both ends. A straight-through cable connects a
terminal device (such as PC or router) to a hub or LAN Switch.

Crossover Ethernet cable: The wires of a twisted pair cable are crimped in different
sequences in the RJ-45 connectors at both ends. A crossover Ethernet cable connects a
