CRANKSHAFT/PISTON/VALVES
CRANKCASE COVER MAIN JOURNAL
I.D.
Measure the crankcase cover main journal I.D.
STANDARD:
SERVICE LIMIT:
If the measurement is more than the service limit,
replace the crankcase cover (page 10-2).
CRANKCASE MAIN JOURNAL I.D.
Measure the crankcase main journal I.D.
STANDARD:
SERVICE LIMIT:
If the measurement is more than the service limit,
replace the crankcase (page 10-7).
CRANKSHAFT AXIAL CLEARANCE
Measure the crankshaft axial play before removing the
crankcase cover.
STANDARD:
SERVICE LIMIT:
If the measurement is more than the service limit,
replace the crankshaft (page 10-7).
If the clearance is still more than the service limit with
the new crankshaft, replace the following:
– Crankcase cover (page 10-2)
– Crankcase (page 10-7)
VALVE SPRING FREE LENGTH/
PERPENDICULARITY
Measure the valve spring free length.
STANDARD:
SERVICE LIMIT: IN/EX: 29.0 mm (1.14 in)
If the measured length is less than the service limit,
replace the valve spring (page 10-6).
Measure the valve spring perpendicularity.
If the measured perpendicularity is more than the
service limit, replace the valve spring.

(1.0008 – 1.0016 in)
25.466 mm (1.0026 in)
28.020 – 28.041 mm
(1.1031 – 1.1040 in)
28.066 mm (1.1050 in)
0.15 – 0.70 mm (0.006 – 0.028 in)
